This year, the Vizergy team has been hard at work making a difference in the community
This #GivingTuesday, in the season of charity and thanksgiving, we celebrate our team and their relentless passion for giving back to our community. In the year 2017, the Vizergy team volunteered nearly 300 hours and raised thousands of dollars for local and national charities.
“Philanthropy and giving back to our community has been a core component of the Vizergy culture since our beginnings nearly 20 years ago.” said Holly Montroy, Director of Human Resources.
As an organization, Vizergy incentivizes volunteerism by offering team members additional paid time off for giving their time outside normal business hours. “We strive to place giving at the center of our focus through the charity sponsorships at each of our events to our reciprocal PTO given to each employee for the hours they volunteer in our community,” Montroy explained. “As our company continues to grow, Vizergy looks for like-minded people with a philanthropic spirit and strong community involvement to keep the culture of generosity continually evolving.”
Our Giving Back Culture – It’s just what we do
Each quarter, the Festivities Committee at Vizergy puts together an event for the team to celebrate wins from the past 3 months, to fuel our momentum into the coming quarter and really just to have a bit of fun! To support our charitable urges, we always try to infuse charity into our celebrations and raise money or find another way to give back.
To celebrate the end of the first quarter this year, we hosted a St. Patrick’s Day celebration where we announced an initiative to collect gift baskets for Daniel’s Kids (danielkids.org).
In the months of March and early April, members of the team collected enough materials to put together nearly 40 Easter baskets for the Daniel organization. Daniel offers support services to underprivileged children and families in Jacksonville.
Our blood, sweat and tears have gone into our efforts to raise money for the less fortunate
In the third quarter, the team threw a MONSTER party for Halloween, as it is one of our favorite holidays to celebrate!
Remember how I mentioned putting our BLOOD, sweat and tears into volunteering? Well, I meant it literally. During the Halloween celebration, Vizergy brought OneBlood (oneblood.org) and their big red bus to the office for a blood drive! The team set up signs around the office and encouraged other businesses in the area to come donate as well.
In a time when our local community had been shaken by the natural disaster Hurricane Irma, it was more important to the Vizergy team than ever to help in the relief efforts. Though working with OneBlood during Halloween has been a tradition, the team was more motivated than ever to give what they could to help our friends in Florida and areas affected by recent events.
‘The Most Wonderful Time of the Year’… to give back!
It’s almost here, it’s getting colder outside but our hearts are getting warmer as we gear up for our Holiday Party and 4th quarter celebration!
The team has come together once again to raise money for charity, this time for Bright Holidays (brightholidays.org).
Each year, we break into smaller groups to put together themed baskets full of goodies to raffle off at the holiday party. Team members can purchase raffle tickets to enter for the baskets they like most and tickets will be drawn during the party to pick winners.
In the past, this initiative has raised more than $2000 for the charity of choice. This year, the team has lofty goals of exceeding that amount and doing as much as possible to make the holidays brighter for the children at Bright Holidays.
Our Continued Dedication to Our Community
Aside from the corporate sponsored charities we mentioned above, our team members have always been and continue to be giving in nature. They give their personal time for the betterment of our community as a regular occasion.
Some other organizations that our team members have worked with throughout the year include the Jacksonville Humane Society, St. Francis Soup Kitchen, Feed Northeast Florida, The American Heart Association, Berry Good Farms, Hubbard House, National Brain Tumor Foundation, One Blood, Clair White Mission, Boys & Girls Club of Jax, Fosters Closet and more.
#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration.
Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. Since its inaugural year in 2012, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy with events throughout the year and a growing catalog of resources.
One of the best ways to get involved is in your own community. You can find a directory at www.givingtuesday.org to help you find organizations, charities, events and more in your area.
